Artificial Intelligence (AI): A Tool for Progress, Not a Curse

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a curse but a powerful driver of technological progress. In the 21st century, it has become a global force for innovation and development.

China stands as a clear example. The application of AI in industry, defense, and research has achieved remarkable advances. From sixth-generation fighter jets to robotics engineering, AI has boosted productivity and transformed the nation’s capabilities.

Once an agricultural economy, China now produces nearly 38% of the world’s industrial output and 18% of global exports. Long-term planning, strong education, and sustained investment in research have even enabled the creation of its own BeiDou GPS system.

Yet many people still see AI only as a tool for editing music or videos, or for writing. This narrow view prevents us from recognizing its true potential in driving industrial growth, education, and national development. In reality, AI is one of the most effective means of meeting the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Vietnam has taken bold steps by making AI education mandatory from primary to secondary school. Students learn data protection at the primary level, practical AI tools in middle school, and technology-based career projects in high school. The goal is to prepare responsible digital citizens and connect them to future opportunities.

The lessons from China and Vietnam are clear: visionary planning, quality education, and sustainable investment in research can turn AI into a cornerstone of national progress.

Our responsibility now is to see AI not as a threat but as an opportunity. By introducing it into education, encouraging automation across industries, and ensuring ethical use, we can compete globally and claim our place as leaders in technology. The path forward is to embrace innovation with confidence.
